What is Living Strategy?

Living Strategy is an iterative process for leadership teams to reinvent their strategy or planning process. In a reality where some things are disrupted overnight and other parts are frustratingly non-changing at the same time.To draw out the true force and potential of the organization. It is for leaders who want to step fully into leadership and play that role well in the transition times we are living through.

We reinvented strategy making to be in full service for leadership teams. For this, the individual motivations and purpose of the leaders, the positioning in the market and society, the business modeling, organization design and change come together into a generic leadership team process.

An Invitation to Train

Living Strategy now invites experienced consultants and facilitators to learn and train in the Living Strategy concept and process. This is for  in-house strategy consultants as well as independent consultants working with client organizations. Living Strategy requires consultants to:

  • Partner with organizations
  • To understand and embrace a different future for organizations
  • Be comfortable walking through different and varied approaches and practices
  • Be “hosts” rather than “training led” in facilitation style
  • Be capable of engaging and working with C-Suite level and demonstrating a mature approach.

The training will offer practice, as a consultant and for leadership teams, to embrace a world-view that includes the older mechanistic world view. We reframe it to perceive the world as an ever-changing, multi- perspective, interdependent, dynamic, living process.

Who are we?

We are a group of experienced facilitators, hosts, change agents and pioneers. We have been practicing concepts like Teal, Next Stage and the Future of Work. We are now bringing our ideas, concepts and practices together in this process called Living Strategy.

How does it work in practice?

Living Strategy combines new and proven processes in organizations. We frame this in a way that the organization’s leadership can make sense for the whole of the business within its environment and add highest value. We walk through every aspect of an organization and deal with any topic a leadership team needs to address, in a logical sequence.

The process allows clients to focus wherever the organization needs to focus on to (re)design and
develop their whole organization in a 2 to 4-day process with the leadership group and then in partnership, with key meetings and milestones as the organization prototypes in the market or operations and integrates learning and insights.

This includes identifying the actual strategy-in-use for the organization, familiarising participants with multiple contexts and multiple stakeholder engagement both internal and external to the organization, business modeling, organizational process, structure and talent, prototyping fast innovation projects, learning organization methods and leadership coaching for organizational change.

Certification Training Details

The invitation is to join our two 3-day trainings to gain certification to deliver the Living Strategy process with clients and with partners from the Living Strategy community.

Training dates & locations for 2019 are:

  1. 1st module – 10-12 September 2019 – Winchester, UK
  2. 2nd module – 19-21 Nov. – Condom, France

How do I (de-)construct my world and new options for action?

This 3-day seminar will focus on cognitive development, the capacity to construct my world and discern options for actions and choice. We will practice the understanding and use of dialectical movements and thought forms (Otto Laske), and corresponding mind-opening questions. We will practice Action Learning with these mind openers. This seminar is both for experienced Action Learning practitioners to include dialectical questions into their mastery, and for participants of the Measuring Hidden Dimensions programme to lay their foundations for the cognitive development dimension.

About Rainer von Leoprechting

The programme will be lead by Rainer von Leoprechting. Rainer (*1965) has trained with Otto Laske in the early 2000s and translated his book “Measuring Hidden Dimensions” into German. He has practiced developmental coaching and consulting for over 15 years, conducts individual developmental assessments and leads organisational development projects focusing on work culture. He has invented an automated measurement of social-emotional development stages that is now available for organisations to match individuals potential with future roles and work assignments.

Understanding development

This 3-day residential seminar will explore the lines of social-emotional and cognitive development, with a focus on social-emotional development: How do I decide and act, and for whom?
We will understand the Robert Kegan (Harvard school) model of adult development, how we unfold as humans according to this line, how interim steps are discerned, and how to do social-emotional assessment interviews.
We will explore the implications of development as a dimension for discerning work capabilities and competences, and what the use of this science means for Human resources as a professional practice.
